I have a 1987 formula 223LS with 454 mag and alpha drive. I want to pull the drive and go through it and also want to pull the transom assembly cause I have a leak. I noticed that the transom assembly is also the rear motor mount, how do you hold engine in place when removing the transome assembly? It needs some sort of support I would imagine.

So long as there is space for the engine to come out complete it is real easy. it can be done in less than an hour. if you have a leak around the transom you will want the engine out anyway to allow inspection and most likely repair of the transom.

Do you really need to pull the motor to find a leak. You might want to check the bellows first and go from there. i woouldnt pull it to just pull it. Unless yo think that the transom assembly is bad or transom?
