I thinK I am at the stand off point...
Do I just cruise to save drives???
Do I spend 20K plus on a $50K boat???
I can't see getting that much more resale with
Konrads installed.
So, looks like my choice's are,
If I want to hit it hard in the ocean I better pony up for the drives...
OR
Just cruise the harbors and big lakes with what I have.......
HHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Buy the Konrads and use the boat the way you want. When you go to sell/upgrade, take the Konrads off the old boat and put them on the new boat that you got a killer deal on becasue no one else wants a TRS boat
You can sell your TRS stuff for a good chunk to recupe your upfront expenses of the Konrad swap over. Probably get at leaste 6-7K back easy more if you want to waite a bit for people that need them in a pinch.

Wish konrads were developed back in the 90's, so we can find used ones for sale on the net! Awesome drives.
If one can afford the up front cost, in the long run I thnk its the best option.
Down time, rebuilds, etc for trs would quickly add up.

Still on the fence,
Thanks for all the advise!
They sound like the way to go.
Just will have to wait for the rest of the boat to get done and see how much $$$$ is left (wife keeps upgradeing).
I put a budget on it when I got it (Nov 07)and I have raised it twice.
Should be ready for water around late July(hope, hope, hope!)
Just don't want to spend much more then it is worth.
With out the drives I think I will be in her about $35k.
Not bad for a totaly rebuilt boat, but still its 20+ year old.
Might have to be easy on her for a year then next summer
change drives.
Again I am new to the offshore,
Had v-drives and jets before. Many boats..
Just wont haul azz to Catalina, just make it a Sunday drive.
Matter of fact just called on a couple of jet boats for my 13 year old.
We can use it this summer and rebuild it over the winter and he will learn this boat stuff.

Johny, lets see some rebuild pictures in the Excalibur section. I would love to see what all you are doing. That boat is not going to be in the air much. Baby the TRS's. I am helping with another 40 Excalibur that is going to run 650 through TRS... hoping for the best.

Hawk,
Was at the boat yesterday going over the items I am jumping on next.
Battery(camera) was dead so no photo's,
Been doing alot of thinking about not putting the blowers on.
Just leave it alone and use it in lakes and such.
just don't trust the boat as it is for the big pond.
For a major re-do, it would take me all summer and winter.
So, I think I will just finish the cabin, paint the outside and go through the motor that has a problem.
Have some fun this summer.
It really needs to be gutted and rerigged.
Love the boat, just can't see spending the money that it would take to get it to what I want.
When it is only worth around $40k.
The really sad thing is,the hull is in very good shape, no stress cracks.
I could see it being a fun boat that could be reliable.
We will see how this summer goes and you never know I may still re-rigg it ........
