Default big power, small bravo, lightweight boat..?

If youve got big (1000HP) on a bravo, they dont last long.. Thats what Ive always heard.. BUT, Its always been in reference to a heavier boat..

What about the same power on a single engine boat in a 26' cat..

Will it last? Do you still have to baby it constantly?

Are the bravos breaking from pushing a heavier boat or is it just the HP regardless of the boat size? I see big power hooked to bravos in triple engine boats so I imagine it has a lot to do with weight.

A 26 ft cat in not considered a small boat. I ate a Bravo drive with 670hp in a 22 ft Eliminator, and I was extremely easy on the throttles. Bravo XR drives are rated at a max of 600hp, IMCO SC's at a max of 700 hp. B-Max and Konrad make drives that are rated up to 1000. If I were you, I would be looking into something like an IMCO SCX drive.

JC ran his 32 Activator with 1000hp with a Bravo and lunched the drive every weekend. He put a 6 on it like mine now.

Louie ran his 32 Activator with 850hp on an Imco (Bravo) for 2 years racing it without an issue.

Boat is about 4500 pounds wet.

Trust me. Get something stronger than a bravo. something else you dont have to worry about....

I bought a prop from a guy in CA with a 26 DCB with 1200hp that ran in the mid 130s. He said it was pretty stable but have no idea what he was comparing it to

There seem to be a few new small cats on Grand lately. I dont think they are able to get the speed up too much on the weekends before the washin machine gets them...
