$8.5K for a gimbal and steering is really sobering - man what a crazy expensive hobby.

i think the prices quoted for everything are about right. mine is a new build, so i had to buy everything anyway. the total is around 20k. if it is reliable and as fast as an XR sportmaster, it will be worth it. i have grown tired of being towed in due to broken bravo xr forward gears. it happened so many times that i had to learn how to rebuild them. kinda takes the fun out of boating. i am hoping that my new rpm redline 26 will do 110+ with my n/a 598. if so, it will be 15 mph faster than my current dcb mach 26.

THIS THREAD SUCKS!

Read the title "new drive from imco"

Not old scx from imco

The new drive that is not out yet. It is a SURFACE Drive not a standard sterndrive. If you want to talk about a standard SCX start a new thread.

If you have info on the SURFCACE drive version post here

Funny you say that they arent out yet, since Imco is taking orders for them.

I wouldnt even call it a surface drive, any more than you can call any bravo drive mounted high a surface drive. Yes, it is shorter, but depending on the level it is mounted on the transom it may or may not be a surface drive. I think a more appropriate name for it is a -4 SCX.

it is a new drive, it just uses the proven scx platform. no other upper casing from Imco has the same configuration. the drive is designed for surface applications. where the x dim on the boat is is totally up to the owner of boat manufacturer not Imco..i would love to see this as a duo prop too.

Where are they taking orders? Not on their web site? Who has one? How do you know all this.

I don't know why they won't tell you about these. They sold me these "Surface" drives last year. Must be holding all that Arneson cheerleading against you.

if I am following the thread correctly - i believe the drive that everyone wants to know more about is the one being reffered to as the "-4 SCX"

I called IMCO. Their tech/sales guy says that the new - 4 surface drive has the same internal gears on both the upper and lower as the SCX, but both the upper and lower cases are different to allow for the -4. The drive is not yet available but should be out by Dec or Jan. They plan to retail the drive for $16,650 per drive which will include a new Helmet and reservoir in that price.

And it will look like the drive in this previously posted pic.
