Default oil hose coming off gimble assembly???

I bought a 235 baja with no motor in the boat and I'm in the process of installing my new motor and I'm trying to make sure I do all that needs to be done before dropping in the motor. I see theres a hose (oil) coming off the gimble assembly and runs up the transom and then its cut off. There is a bracket on the transom close to were its cut off. I've looked at a friends boat, but his doesn't have this. I'm thinking this could be the drive oil container? Other boats I've seen have it mounted on the motor. Does anyone know where I can find a new bottle or what ever it is that goes there or even what it looks like?

Thanks

I think you are correct, it is for the oil reservoir, which attaches to the bracket. On mine, the reservoir also connects to the warning buzzer. Here is a pic of mine, the square bottle slides into the bracket.

Parts list:

You'll need to look yours up by drive/transom S/N

Not sure if you can see them here or not but at the very top the resevoirs you are talking about and that were posted above are mounted on the inside of my Transom. I circled theone on the right....

Look closely and you'll see them. They probably sit in the Bracket you are describing, like mine do. Other stock Merc stuff has a mounting location ON the engine.

Thanks for the depots everyone! The link you post helped out. I looked up my serial number and found out I need the round bottle setup. The bracket they showed looked just like what's on my transom. Now I just need to find one. Anyone have one laying around they want to sell?

Thanks again!

I looked at the site again and there is a square bottle option so I assume I could just get a square bottle (ted g...lol) and find/make a bracket for it to mount on the transom? Am I not seeing the problem in doing this?
