Default SSM question?

So has anyone herd of a #4 A? I picked up a set of #4's, and they are the big shafts drives. But they also say on the drive #4 A? Did these have different internal's other than the big prop shafts, like the 3A, and the #5? Any insight on this would be appreciated!

Sounds like your basic #4 drive with big propshafts installed. I dont believe anything gets changed other than propshafts

Mild Thunder is correct. I believe that you could get a #4, from Mercury, with the "big" propshaft. I have new sets of straight cut, near net forged, polygoned upper gears available for the #4 in case you ever need to replace the spiral cut gears that were std. in a #4. The gear that I have is the same gear as a #5 with the "shank" of a #4. I also have "big" propshafts and lower gears available for a #3 or a #4.
