Default TR/Konrad replacement drive

Hi All, My current 454 Chev drives a TR leg via a velvet drive on a 28' single prop cruiser. I am wondering who knows anything about the Konrad replacement legs. The web site says wonderful things, but I would like to hear from any of you that have made or heard how the conversion went!

Ive heard great things about the Konrads. If they are tough enough to survive the military, they are tough enough for any boat.

Don't wast your money . If you were rocking a go fast boat a Konrad would be good for 600hp on a single . Seeings how you have a non performance application you would be better off picking up a nice TRS . If you have a Konrad your limited to one place to get parts and/or repair . When you go down you'll be at the mercy of Konrad . You can pick up nice TRS drives for $1500 and they will hold up just as well as the Konrad . Buy one for your boat and two spares and you'll still come out cheeper then a Konrad and if you do break one any merc mechanic can repair it , and the parts are all over ebay .
If you still have interest in a Konrad theres a guy on ebay that sells them for $4000. But just remember your at the mercy of Konrad .
I believed in Konrad till it let me down ! Then I did some research and found several OSO members that broke them with very low hours and all of our stories are the same . Send us your drive and we can repair it for around $4000 . Then when they have the drive it needs a complete new lower and new top cap and now the repair bill is $10,000 . Same story over and over . I will post you some pic's of how bad mine corroded and you won't believe it . Looks like it set in saltwater for ten years ! More info here : http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...-you-seen.html

I have done the conversion , its simple with the motor and trans removed because of the location of the lower gimble bolts . I have broken a konrad also due to no fluid in the drive ( another story) . And yes they are expensive to rebuild when they do break , I broke 2 TRS drives in 2 weeks , but mine is a real real heavy boat .
