I have the new design where the skeg goes almost to the tip of the nose cone. I was told that they redesigned it this way to help break the water and ehlp settle the stern of the boat. I never had the other design but I can say I dont have trouble with stern lift. SHould also be noted that I have normal scx but thought I would comment since we are talking about lowers.

Please note. The new design does not have a slit in the nosecone for water pick up like my old sc. So you need either external water pick up or modify the lower to open up the small hole that is there

I have run both and running the new style,it gave my boat a little more control and handling. Also it still has the low water pick up on the bullet, drive has built in cooler that runs through this pick up. Also on my single engine application I needed to add a torque tab to prevent blow out at high speed, very happy with it.

You are saying it doesn't have a slit in the nose cone.
But you are also saying you have to open up the small hole that's there?
