Default Broken TR prop shaft

Cruising along when all of a sudden a bad shaking started. Turned the prop by hand and could see it was bent so I pulled the prop. Turns out the prop shaft cracked 3/4 around at the seal. Is this a common problem? I'm now looking for another prop shaft or better yet a lower unit that is ready to run.

No, not common at all. Very unusual it would do that. Those are pretty much bullet proof. Sure you didn't hit something? Be easier if you just found a prop shaft. You could change it with out even removing the drive. If you just replace the lower it will need to be shimmed correctly to the upper.

There are a few on ebay. Here is the cheapest one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MerCruiser-P...NS5V5V&vxp=mtr

Assuming you need the more common right hand rotation. Part number is 44-62792. Left hand is 44-62820. The one in the picture is a right hand but they have the left hand number on it.

I have a complete TR lower if you're looking.

Just curious: Is it really a TR or is it actually a TRS drive ?
and are the prop shafts interchangeable ?

TR and TRS prop shafts are not interchangeable.

Exactly ! Not interchangeable. The reason I have a spare TR is because in thought it was a Trs. The TR has a much larger prop shaft. I find that ad on ebay deceiving because it says both. I would sell my complete lower for $350 if anyone is interested.
