Cheapest place to buy new Bravo drive

Yeah but those have been locked in a wet basement, were under water during Sandy, and fell off the back of the delivery truck. Buy one and you're contributing to the downfall of the American economy. Or at least that's what some want you to believe

Victory as rebuilds for 5500$ No new drives
BUP I understand your position. I mean what's merc's logic if their costs are more for their own dealers? I just don't get it why do they let this happen? And more important, why would merc let inventory go out trough the back door knowing it would'nt be covered by any warranty. Would love to have a merc usa related put some lights here.

Bought my XR from Gavin and it did not come with a serial number. Reason being is the top and bottom were procured separate and put together for my app (1.81). Had a leak on the shaft seal and took it to local dealer and Merc covered the fix.
Did have to remove the lower later and install my original 2.00 lower, just was to high a ratio. Still have the 1.81 and may change the gears out one of these days.

pricing for outdrives is simple economics...volume, overhead, and profit. find someone who does huge volume with merc, low overhead and I'm willing to bet you'll be ahead of the game.
mike woods was the cheapest by a long shot on HP transom assemblies. Haven't researched drives but he would be my first call.

Disagree, and lets not start bad mouthing Gavin, they where straight up dealer and not cheap. Had to wait for Merc to build the lower section because none where in the warehouse with a 1.81 ratio. Drive was shipped from Merc to Gavin to me. Drive seal was replaced and even new seal notice signs of a slight leak. Dealer which did repairs says they see brand new boats come in with B3's that leak. Said to run it and watch lube. After running it for about a month, pulled the boat out and no leaks, then swapped drive to my old 2.0 ratio

^^^^^ never said a word about him - where did I say that ? I understand and YES BRAVO III big problems with leaking seals totally agree with all those statements - They Merc even changed the seal design in 2011 but still leak but not as bad but can still even leak from the start.
There is even a service Bulletin about the leak and seal change for Bravo III. I would pressure test any drive even new before running them or even installing them first of off. Also make sure your props are balanced as well cause that helps against seal leaks Also very straight prop shafts helps against leaks. You can check runout with a dial indicator with a supported base holder at the skeg
I know he is a dealer from Iowa or somewhere like that. I will erase my post.
