Default Prop shaft load ring

so I'm changing my prop shaft. I've got a new thrust washer and load ring. is it supposed to be this hard to crush that sleeve? I've got a 4 foot ratchet on it and it's extremely tight. I've almost got the bearings touching I'm down to about .010. also for the rolling tourqe can I just have it in neutral or do I need to split drive. thanks.
