debating on how many batteries I need. Was hoping to get away with 3 however if 4 is needed so be it. Twin BBC app with all jl audio amps and components.
Amps I'm installing are as follows.
#1) 1000/1 mono
#1) 500/1 mono
#2) 300/2
#2) 100/2
Also running delco 100 amp alternators.
Advice is appreciated.
Tks John

Wonder what the dimensions of those 2400 series are. I will try and look up online today and also measure my battery mounts. I I have place to mount one in the cuddy (we're amps are mounted) which would be perfect for the 3rd battery and run 2 or 4 gauge back to the engine compartment - other two batteries.

Its not the amps that draw the power, its what speakers are moving. 3 12's will use the juice. (but should sound good!)
If you are coved, alt size has no bearing other than when you and leave, they will not burn up trying to charge a larger depleted battery bank. (don't be the douche that fires up engines to charge batteries while tied up goes without saying
How long do you want to play coved it the question? More than 2-3 hours will likely require a 3rd or larger battery.
If you fly high and rough like your pic, performance batteries like Kinetik or XS could be advantageous over standard lead acid from a damage standpoint.

I recommend capacitors, especially if your batteries are more than 2 feet from your amps.

caps are absolutely the biggest gimmick and waste of money on the market......I'd be happy to sell somebody one, but if you're hooked up to a good battery like the Kinetic or XS there is absolutely zero need for a cap.
Running 2 XP3000's you should be able to hang out with the music on for most of the day.....obviously if all you're doing is sitting with the stereo cranked a 3rd battery would not hurt anything. I put 3 XP3000's on a boat with 2 Wetsounds SD-2's and a SD-6 and he has yet to drain the battery completely in over a season of use and he's been trying. Same guy replaced stock batteries 3 times from draining them before I could finally talk him into spending the money to do it right.

Good advice guys. I really don't hang around much the party coves much any more however an occasional drifting off in the sunset from time to time is more like it. I would say 75% of listening will be while running the lake shore and 25% engines off. I have a perfect spot for a 3 rd battery in the cuddy near amp board so might just put a half way decent less expensive deep cycle there and 2 XP 3000's under the hatch.
Next question is with a three battery system you still use a 2 battery switch?
