Default 2005 525efi smartcraft ready?

i have a 2005 525efi I was thinking about connecting it to a MFD such as Raymarine or Simrad. How can I find out if the engine is equipped to connect to a NEMA network, I know I will need a converter to access vessel view data. Any advice would help, Thanks

I’m 99% sure all the 525 efi’s are smartcraft capable. Some of the older model years don’t have all the functions of the later ones but most. For instance mine does not display manifold pressure via smartcraft and there’s also an issue getting my tabs to communicate.

Do you use a MFD like Simrad/Garmin? If so which one do you use and are you using it to display smart craft data?

You just need a gateway. Then you will be able to transfer data in the correct format to use the garmin/Simrad. You should have a smartcraft tagged connection that's has a cover on it in the harness. Yours might be a yellow blue or purple cap.

Yes it’s a simrad GO9. The simrads are the same thing as the mercury vessel views now. I needed the vessel view link which acts as the gateway to the simrad.

Thanks for all the Info. I was leaning to the simrad most likely is what I will go with. I will get started when I get the boat back from the detailer later next week. Hopefully we get some warmer weather here, I hate the cold it sucks!!
