+1 on the automatic charging relay. I have two of them in my boat. I have five batteries. The ACR's work great. I used blue sea systems units.

Agreed, the Blue Seas ACR is the way to go.
Isolators are old technology. Voltage drop across the diodes

The prolsocharge #23124 (wrong part in my above post) is actually a digital version with no diodes or voltage drop. Is that the same concept as the ACR? I'm honestly getting confused now and apologies to the OP for turning this into complication. Not my intention...
