26 Eagle V speed
Mine seems to run 69MPH at 4500 feet elevation & I was interested in adding a Whipple & Exhaust. Just looking for advice on speed in this boat safely. I figure the extra HP would put me somewhere in 80 to 82 MPH at this elevation but at sea level i figured closer to 85 to 87MPH. The boat was rigged with IMCO external steering & Dana tabs so I think the original owner had intentions of more speed.

I had a 25 Eagle that ran 72-73 with stock 502 mag and drive. I put on an M-3 Procharger and an Imco lower. It ran a best of 84. It was a good, efficient cruiser with this. It was a driver's boat above 75. To avoid chine walking, I would have to steer slightly. My boat did not have tabs and needed them. They will be a must to help you tame that power. I really lenjoyed the Eagle and think it's a great hull. Be safe and take time to learn to drive it above 75. Eric

Mid to high 80's should be great. Although my 25 was a handfull at 85 until I got the bottom of the boat sharpened up. I mean the steps and the transom to bottom joint. The actual bottom was straight, just not sharp. Now there is no chine walking at all. It now runs sweet to 90 then I am about out of boat. I love the overall handling of the hull.

SCHU, did that boat feel like it was glued down in the nose or did it carry the bow like an outboard? I know you had mentioned "rails". Also did you test it with the standard length case/with with out the nose cone. Which prop? I am interested in the setup. I know I have that much horsepower and cant get abouve 96 mph. I have a std case and its got a one inch spacer. I feel like I am at the wall. This year I am going to try the Imco case and then take out the spacer. I can go 96 with 29 mirage or 28 bravo. did you have to use the tabs at that speed?

With the tabs at "0" the boat has a nose down glued to the water feel. The customer that we built this boat for has several other performance boats and this boat is used primarily as a ski boat. For that reason we had Eliminator set the engine 1" low and it was built with the sportmaster. I never had a standard mercury lower on the boat. It uses a blueprinted 30P bravo turns 5900rpm and its a 1.50:1 I have yet to see a boat the did not benefit from the Imco lower. Im sure you will be happy with the results.
