Trouble With SCX
Simular to earlier Thread. (Trouble with SCX4 on 27 Daytona)
I have a 26 Daytona with 525 and a Stage two Whipple making about 850 hp. I had a Bravo one xr and a Sc lower with 1.34 gear ratio. Top speed was 110mph with 30p bravo one prop @ 5800rpm. After granading XR upper I called Teague and ordered a SCX upper and new design lower. Same gearing and same prop shaft height. I lost 20mph. WTF? I have 2 gps speedos. one on nav screen and the other boat speedo. I also confirmed gear ratio. After informing Teague I was told to take 2" spacer out that was installed from IMCO. Now prop shaft is 2" above outer sponsons and boat gets real loose at around 70mph. I've drove through that and hit 94mph at 5800rpm and only 3/4 throttle but wont do that again. lol I am waiting to hear back from Teague today to see what they suggest next. I want to be back at or near 110mph. That's the whole reason I added Whipple. I'll give up a couple MPH's for something I cant break but not 20mph. I ran 90mph a few times with stock 525. Can anyone help? I'm affraid they're gonna tell me to add back spacer which will slow me down or run SC which will be the week link then. Is anyone else running this configuration?

I've talked to Brett in the past. I do that today. I'm hopeing Bob Teague will have an answer.
I have a friend with a 27' Daytona, 1100 hp who added SCX4 with bravo prop shaft. The BUD boat. His best is 124mph with 23% slip with bravo 34p. He tried a Hydramotive 5 blade bravo style prop and got his slip down to 13% but lost 3mph. That motor should have him well over 130mph.

Yes I know him talked to him alot trying to get the speed from the Bud boat. I knew he was going to that drive. But if I remember right that boat never ran the speeds it should have with the bravo set up. Well good luck please keep us posted!

So was your original prop height 2" above or is that where you are now that you took the spacer out? I've just added an extension box to mine and haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I'm 2" above now that I have added the box. I hope you get your boats figured out soon, sucks to spend over 20k on a drive to loose 20mph and also loose the comfort of a stable 120 mph boat.

While we're on SCX top and SC lower i'd like to find out if you guys have any knowledge on why I am getting blowout at 90+mph with an SCX upper and SCX lower omn a 21 ski boat - we've got around 1100 hp but cant go anywhere near using it. We ran a bravo shaft but kept throwing blades on bravo's including Herrings. Now we've gone to a #6 drive shaft and we just keep getting blow out. Ive run an XR top and lower before on a similar boat and it ran 115mph with less hp and handled as well as you'd ever want. So does anyone know how we can overcome the blow out on a single SCX drive. -HELPPPPPP
