Anyone running a 28 Eagle with a shorter drive on it. What kind of speed increase...any planning problems?

This probably isn't much help, but I have a 97 stepped hull with the IMCO shortey. I have no problems planning or turning, but I didn't really gain anything other than a stronger drive. No noticable gain. My prop shaft is now at 3 1/4" below the bottom of the pad, so I think I need a 3" shorty. From talking to Eliminator, they moved the X from year to year, so a call to them would be wise.

Right now my shaft is like 7" below the pad...maybe I would have something to gain by going to a 2" shortie....

WOW, that baby is deep. You should call Eliminator and see what they have to say. I know it works for mine, but yours is not a stepped hull and I don't know how that affects it, all though I think without air from the steps it would be less of a problem.
Or, do you have a buddy that has a shorty that you can talk into swapping for a day. I have done that before with one of my friends.
