Re: 24' who's got one
I had one till the hull split open. Other than that, I was quite happy with it. 502 BW/TRS. My only complaint was that it coulda been 3 feet longer

I noticed a 24' Excalibur for sale the other day.
Do they really have a 6' beam???
Wow, where do you put the trim tabs?
Good looking boats though...
I almost bought a 27' flat deck style back in 2001.

More like 7' beam. Mine was a '76, converted to bravo with bottom of hull (pad) hiting about center of intake vent on '89 bravo drive. Still got tons of bow lift. Hull was built more like a jet boat -small stringers, light construction. Went through 14 gallons epoxy resin building a second set of stringers outboard of the existing ones, and beefing up the originals, installing full bulkheads etc. Had to cut cockpit sole out to get to center of boat - deck was glassed on - didn't want to cit it off. Locked up tight when I was done - loved the boat for @450 hours. Ran about 80 with 470hp BBC, nose cone (1st style bravo) 25p mirage - 5,400 rpm---- light boat, low slip - really rides on that 4" pad at higher speeds. Later years (like '79) had much better bottom construction, larger stringers from what I saw.
Countless hours of work, only to watch it run down the Cheasapeake Bay without me (got tossed) for 8 miles, hit shore, and go up in flames....................
