Tim- yes the foam is just a quick an dirty way to get an idea of what we want. as i said before the end product will be bondo and chickin wire( for strenght) . . just kid'n. actually the final will be a bonded composite piece. give me a buz if you need some pointers on the stress cracks and i can talk ya through it.

How much is all this costing ? Can you break it down, I love the idea of the hatch in the deck. How much do you think that will weaken the boat ?

dave said after cutting the hole without doing anything else to the boat that the deck wasn't any weaker.... there is a bulkhead basically at both ends of the hatch which helps, i also think he still has to put the "lip" in for the hatch to close on and that will stiffen it even more.

cost? i think dave is doing this for free for educational purposes... but really, some of that stuff like the custom windscreen mount is a lot of time which equals money, but i didn't want the look of just a piece of lexan screwed to the boat either.... the hatch is probably the most cost effective thing i am doing as it isn't labor intensive and the gain of storage on a boat like mine is invaluable... the rest is cosmetic stuff and would vary on every boat... and then the paint... is it cheap? no, but what is in boating?

I have a 30 motion, the hatch in the front would be awesome for storing stuff, the back seat is a ***** to lift.

How much for just the paint ?

I asked a question about price on the first page yahoo. Never got an answer lol. Having been in the car painting business i can say it is far from cheap. The materials alone to paint a boat will usually cost more than a complete custom paint job on a car Also these guys seem to be at the top of the game and you know the old saying you get what you pay for. Keep up the good work glassdave

materials are very expensive, and you are right, i have had really nice cars painted for less than the materials in this job...

i don't know the exact number as it is kind of a work in progress and ever evolving...
