sometimes becomes necessary to literally paint the boat twice. you may have to do the entire fade and clear that. re-sand the whole boat and than do the remainder of the layout than clear again. this is common with some of the mega paintjobs from the big guys and also why they can cost in the 30/40K range. its quite a juggling match figuring out the scheduling of all the colors sometimes

here is a perfect example of what he is talking about. this 43 Nor-tech just got faded, and cleared, now we have to sand the whole thing again and start the design and graphics. then cleare again. it is like painting it twice. this job will have multible layers of color and clear befor its done.

Hey wally there are differant ways to do this. we use mostly pearls for our base colors, and multible graphics. so we clear all our base colors with basecoat clear, then we sand all the graphics befor the final clear. this allows us to nock down all the paint edges befor clear. the other way is to clear the whole boat twice, meaning, clear over all the graphics, then sand everything and clear again. this will produce a very flat finish .that you cant feel the graphics under the clear.
but this is not cheap $$$

gotta love those long fades takes a good eye to see how the color is falling. looks great Harold! i asume you are using DBC5000 intercoat clear and sanding with 1000 or so? one other note to the general public, most basecoats must be cleared within 24 hours. using an intercoat clear "buys" you a new 24 hour window. with the complexity of some jobs they could never be done within that time frame so you really have to be on your toes to figure out the what colors go on when and how to best use the products we have avaliable
