Has anyone had experience with this type vinyls covers. The new Cigs and Concepts use it.
Curious on how it wears and tears. Cig also uses a high density foam and curious about the density number or hardness?

the carbon fiber vinyl will wear as well as most any "Marine vinyl" you find. It's very pliable meaning that it will fall nicely over foam (No bunching).
Two types of foam generally used. Open and closed cell foam. Most motorcycle seats are closed cell foam. Boat seats use either.
General open cell foam for seats should be about 40lbs. per square inch. I'm not certain of closed cell although it is more dense (won't absrob water either) than open cell. Closed cell sculpts better than open cell as well as being more expensive.

I going to (have to) redo the v-brth mattress and the seats/backrest in my SR357.
The existing foam is oroginal (1986) and has gotten as hard as concrete and has a gamey boat interior odor.
What are best choice foams for eahc of these? Is that memory foam worth a flip for the mattress in v-berth? I want to make that as thin as possible -- maybe 2" max.
I'm planning on using an Ultrleather or Ultrsuede fabric from Majilite. Any comments on that stuff? It lloks as good as the real Ultra products and is about 1/2 the price.

http://www.majilite.com/ is similar product for 1/2 the price. TAPIS is ultraleather manufacturer at http://www.tapiscorp.com/
Gulf Fabrics in Tampa sell the Ultraleather/ultrsuede but they are xpensive and tought to deal with if your not "in the trade". Majilite will sell direct and they sent me a complete set of fabric samples.
