You need to bond this by scuffing the skid with some scotch bright pads. Then wash it a stated above. when you spray the paint use more twice the amount of paint coatsbut very light coats and give the paint a chance to bond itself. The longer you wait the better chance you have to bond chemicaly.

Has anyone used the Interlux non-skid? I need to re-do a large non-skid area that has hundreds of tiny sun checks in it. Any ideas on which product to use? I am hoping that the new paint or primer will fill these voids. What about a polyester type non-skid? Also the Scarab and Formula look awesome. I would like to find a 357 to re-do some time.

az try algrip, shoot several coats and let it tack up good between coats. you can shake on or spray the non skid if your gun has a large enough set up. shoot a test panel to see what its gonna look like before you do the boat

We redid our Formula last winter. We also chose to paint the nonskid. Pics a little far away but we did it in house of Kolor pearl. For prep, we degreased/dewaxed several times, then sandblasted the nonskid lightly. Used a PPG epoxy sealer then a PPG primer followed by color and clear. Weekends at the beach with kids and friends and it still looks great.

The diamond pattern non-skid on my centre console was virtually worn smooth when I got it 18 years ago.
After all the aforementioned prep (and make sure it's all 100% dry too) I did it with the Awlgrip system.
Fast forward to today ... and it's all still there not even a chip on it AND you can powerwash it too.
I'm now re-doing the entire boat and I will do it the same way again. Maybe even better this time !
