Ignorant Boat Builder
I'm looking for a little advice and this post probably shows my ignorance. I don't care though. Everyone starts somewhere.
I want to learn how to build powerboats and I don't have any idea where to look for help. Journals, books ("Boatbuilding for Dummies"), classes, a phone call... I'm just looking for someone to point me in the right direction.
I appreciate your help.

I would have to say, short of a hands on apprenticeship in the trade, you can read all the books, take all the classes, watch all the videos but the best teacher is trial and error. From my experiences with different trades you may know the steps in doing something but you need to know the "tricks of the trade" to make things come out right.

Carm:
Thanks for the reply. That's exactly what I'm looking for in terms of direction.
I want to get my hands dirty - just like you said its the only way to learn the tricks and really understand how a boat is put together.
Do you have any idea who I could contact for this type of program or who could further point me in the right direction?
