Ok this might be one of the most stupid questions posted but,
I am spraying over a faded 4 inch piece of Gelcoat. I dewaxed, sanded with 220 then 400, then 800. Faded green is all the same. I thougth I read on a forum you did not need to apply primer first?
Any comments.
Thanks

Follow your paint systems recommendations. 800 scratch in gel seems high. Depends on what paint your using. Also it depends on if your changing color.

For future reference, single stage doesn't necessarily need primer, but a sealer to play it safe, especially if painting yellow so you have uniform color. I usually sand with #320 before painting, but #400 if you use Awl Craft 2000.
