Fiberglass over aluminum?

Fiberglass over aluminum?
Checked my gas tank for leaks and it passed but there is some pitting I'm concerned about. Has anybody ever glassed a aluminum tank to basically seal it? The tank is out of the boat.

dosent work. the differance in the rate of expansion and contractions will cause it to de-lam quickly.

I've had a good welder fill the pits in aluminum and regrind smooth... (it was a gimbal though). Those prop repair guys can do wonders with aluminum, maybe?

I think you will find difficultly finding someone to weld on a gas tank...even if you flush them once they start to get heated up and expand some the fuel creeps out of places . Even if you purge it with Nitrogen or fill with water and can weld on it and you fix the rotted in one spot there is about 50 more places about ready to leak......new tank is my vote.
