What "PPG Clear" is best~
What is the best one to use, and why do you choose that one:
2082
3000
4000
2021
How many coats would you suggest?
What is flash time between coats?
Any application secrets welcomed.....
Thank-you in advance!

I use 2021, used it for years. Works great havent used any of the others but may hafta give them a try if they get good reviews in this thread. I use 3 coats of 2021 and buff one of 'em off.

Kind of an old thread but I don't really find myself in this section very often so I will give my .02 cents worth..
I am like Dave , I have been using 2021 for many years now mostly over top of DBC base & some House of Kolor... I am happy with it however in recent years I have not experimented with any of PPG's other clears... I am probably a bit more set in my ways than I should be but its kinda a catch 22 for me b/c my thing is that if I have a clear that has been working good for me & proved itself over the years I am Very reluctant to try new stuff... We have guys come in the shop from time to time from practically every paint company out there trying to get us to use their stuff & even if they give us products (which I am very appricitave of) it usually ends up sitting on the shelf for quite a while b/c I don't like to experiment on customers stuff & when it comes time to do my personal stuff I want it right too & I have trouble experimenting there also... So round & round the cycle goes... LOL...
Fountainfevr : I have not used the 890 but I may have to look into it sometime , or maybe dave can try it & then let me know how he likes it compared to the 2021.. LOL...
If I had a PPG rep. that actually showed up once & a while I would ask him but....

I have used the 2021 for years over DBC and HoK, never had a problem.
Did try the 82 once, didn't like the shine. I do a lot of airbrush work and need heavy coats to cover, will put 4 full on, then wet sand. Final coat I will use 3 maybe 4 but overreduce for better flow out. Sometimes it will look like glass.
I want to try the global out, from what I understand they developed it for Mercedes to stand up to car washes. I just haven't found the thing to try it on yet.
