Removing/Shaving Rubrail On '87 Wellcraft
I am rebuilding an '87 Spyder and I am considering shaving the rubrail if it is possible. I like the new clean look.
I have searched many places and I can't find any info on doing this on an older boat.
Can someone tell me the procedure of attaching the hull to deck and filling/shaving and prepping for paint?
I will be happy to post pics of the build this winter if anyone is interested.
Thanks

it is a very time consuming process on older "shoe box" style builds, the overlaps can be pretty thick. It is possible but requires a great deal of filling and fairing. you will also need to access all of the inside seam to tab it completly in. feel free to give me a call if you want a better run down on the process. 419-461-1484

I have put the Spyder on hold and have been working on a Squadron XII, which will be getting the same treatment. I have done a bunch of research and tried a few things since I first posted the question. I dont think it will be difficult and it will end up very solid.
Send me an email and I can keep you up to date on the Squadron. It is going together now and the deck will be installed/tabbed on within the next few weeks.
