BTW, as I've said before, that was truly a labor of love and you did it in stellar fashion. Thanks for sharing all of it with all of us.

Tom,
Thanks again for the kind words! It is pretty humbling all the responses I have gotten.. I guess it shows how much of a perfectionist I am. As for how it ran I am not really sure. I only went out 3 short times. I really went as far into the season as I could.. The last pictures were taken on a day high of 45 or so. As for speed, I dont have any solid numbers. I need to install or get a hand held GPS. So far I was happy with how it ran. I wont lie, I already wish it was faster... I think I have a 3 blade 23p Mirage on it.. I really would like to do a DOE (design of experiments) on trim vs jack plate settings. This I still need to hook up to the mechanical indicator. I got a budy up here with a few different props I can try.. I hope to get it dialed in this spring... I will report back with what I find out...... You know it wont hit the speeds of that progression...

Two little white boats with blue trim at the casino....
hah, thats funny! Dave did an excellent job on the boat! I cant thank him enough for all the answered phone calls. He really coached me through the rebuild. As for the same design. Go for it if that's what you like!!! It just means that when I go to Kelleys once a year I can be a total d*ck......... You will just have to live with the reputation........ Just kidding.. In all seriousness, go for it. I kinda copied this one... I did see the pictures of the boat you picked up. There was one for sale last year by my parents place. That would be one cool sit down boat. I cant believe how skinny & deep it is.. Its gotta be a 24x7 hull with 3 feet cut off. The scout hull is definitely wider..

I was curious to how your boat ran as well. I started chasing speed numbers with mine and lost a lot of fun in my opinion. We went back to the old school setup and lost a lot of speed but really enjoy the boat better. It's an Apache. That makes it badazz just sittin still right?

When you're ready next spring, we can compare notes. The hulls are pretty similar and the motors are cosmetically identical. I think some of the modifications you made probably added some weight, but it ought to ride like a dream. And with the little one, that will come in handy! PM me if you need anything.

Thought I would post an update with pictures.... The first is a pic of my son when I told him we were not boating on Saturday due to the weather forecast... I did get the boat in today and was really happy with it. I just have a few odds and ends left.. Now I just need to get used to running it and figuring out were to store all the bags that must come along......

We used to have a 24x7 and that is exactly what we did. We actually bought the nets from a motor cycle store. We got the color we wanted. It worked out real well.
