I live close enough to Michigan Fiberglass Sales...http://www.michiganfiberglass.com/products.html... Do they sell quality products, if you are familiar with them?

yeouch those guys are way expensive. i use these guys for a lot of stuff and there pricing on small quantities is really good, even with shipping its cheaper than Michigan fg.

435 is a good standard layup resin for what your doing, anything structural and the upgrade to 700 vinyl is a good choice.

I have used UScomposites for a long time also, can't rememeber when I started using them (used to order from paper catalog!). They have always been fine to work with, never dissapointed.

Fibreglast.com also. More expensive typically, but they do carry top notch supplies and a bunch of info available online.

Is the 2oz chopped strand mat from US Composites the same as 1808 Biaxial? If not who has the cheapest prices on the 1808?

Would you cut one piece 4 foot by 2 foot or make strips say for example 6 inch by 12 inch?

assuming the dash is cored with ply i would cut a piece of wood that fit snug and bond the edge all the way around with the 404 and let it cure. Then go back with a die grinder and scarf the face down level with the core. This way you have a nice stable surface to lay the laminate on. Do it in full sheets, you should only need two or three layers cut consecutively larger (or smaller) so the thickness of the layup follows the scarf. This will minimize the grinding needed after it cured and will be easier to level out.
