Default Modifying strakes on a 24x7 hull (24 Pantera)?

Has anyone modifyed the strakes on a 24x7 hull to create more lift and gain speed?

I'm redoing the bottom on my 24 Pantera (converting it to a race boat) and might do some radiused rails (like the Ocke Mannerfelt speed rails) on the strakes.

I know someone must has tried this, but what's the outcome?

The hull design is old and with todays power and props it should be possible to do some simple strake modifications and gain some speed.

Thanks Tomcei,

The 28 sits more or less unused since a couple of years. I have used it maybe 5-6 times over the last three seasons, I have been prioritizing my family instead.

Since I like the project state of boating so much the 24 will now be rebuilt and will go racing next year.

I would check with Joe at Pantera and see how the hull has evolved since yours was built and what they have found. The whole thing is about balance, more boat/drive out of the water doesn't always translate to more speed.

Done

Yes I understand the balance issue, but I need to start somewhere.

Someone must have modified the 24x7 bottom?!

No difference between now and 1979.

I'll guess I'll put the bottom to spec and sharpen the edges then.

Yes, since it has a 1/4" or more hook on the port side so it definitely needs to be fixed.

No he didn't really have any suggestions.

Careful on removing the hook some of that is "engineered" into the hull to help with the single prop.
