post 29 what's troweled (blue stuff) on the transom plywood piece?....never seen that....i've only seen glass & resin between 3 pieces of ply.

I’ve actually got 24oz woven roving *between* the 3 layers of plywood to create the new transom core. But yeah, it’s a bonding agent I used to help bond the ply/glass core to the hull. There were already tons of holes in the transom, I was glad to see it ooze out, it told me I had good contact to both the core and the hull.

Thanks for the advice Jeff, I have a couple chunks of the insulation against the Outside of the hull held up there with a couple spare boat stands. With the warm air inside, I was assuming (hoping) that would keep the boat itself warm enough in the area of glassing. Everything set up nicely!

I got two of these knee braces in!
Not tabbed yet, but glued into the thickened resin/milled fiber peanut butter. I discovered that the plastic serving spoons that collect at work are perfect to smooth the squeeze-out.
Then… When working on the middle one, I spilled a quart of newly mixed resin, and dumped at Least a pint of mineral spirits over (luckily forward, where I haven’t started work yet…). Then fell off the ladder while scampering back up with an armload of paper towels to clean my mess.
Took the hint and went home.

Wow Jeff, you got quite a project going too!
I believe the “hardest” part is behind me now, with the transom done, and the knees built and mostly in place. The rest of the build will be relatively straightforward stringers. But still a lot of grinding out the old stringer tabbing… ugh.

Back on it! New Vinylester resin showed up last Friday and got the last knee in. Also pulled the floor and tried getting the fuel tank out, but it was foamed in so good I pulled the stringers and it’s still stuck to the hull!! Lol! Need some longer sawzall blades to get farther under the foam…
I’ll post another thread separately, but having a hard time managing the large pieces of 1708 tabbing.
Probably more practice will help.
