Formula emblem removal

You can just "pop" the emblems/lettering off. Use a piece of soft wood & a chisel (tape over the sharp point! The just pry up. As for removing the adhesive, mine cam right off using acetone. I replaced the entire formula name on both sides last winter (they were blistered). As for lining the letters up I put masking tape above & below the letters & marked the letter corners on the tape. You could also use "thin-line" tape to outline the letters however removing adhesive would then be more difficult without damaging the tape. This really was pretty easy to do !!

Used your ideas on the lettering and emblems and everything went great. Kinda handicapped right now with only one good shoulder so your chisel and wood idea gave me a little more leverage. I have the same problem with the chrome blistering on my letters. Another problem was that the black paint around the letters on that side of the boat was somewhat weathered so while I had the lettering off I wanted to wet sand and buff it back out. Couldn't leave the tape in place for the buffing. Still found a remedy. Simply took measurements down from the rubrail as to where the masking tape was before buffing, lined it back up and the rest is history. I don't know who they get their double-sided tape from for those letters but that is some serious stuff. Once you get an edge broke loose they begin to give up, though. Thanks again for the input everybody.
