I've seen a few impeller issues come up lately and found this going through some old saved documents on my PC. They are replacement instructions from Mopower that he sent me when I was complaining about the 272's access.
*******************
First remove hose from transom and tie a cord to it and allow to drop into bilge.
Next remove bolts from pulley and remove it and belt.
Tie another cord to w/p shaft behind flange. remove the 3 nuts holding pump to bracket and allow pump to fall out the back of bracket . Grab cord between btaket and pump and pull pump up to near the crank pulley where you can now remove hose to oil cooler. Yep, that's right, tie a cord on that hose and allow it to drop.
Lift pump out and rebuild. Replace by guiding hose under engine while pulling through with cord.
Lower pump in front of engine to crank level and replace oil cooler hose.
Lower pump to bilge. Then grab cord and pull pump up through bracket and replace 3 nuts holding it
Replace pulley in a cocked position with belt on it and as you tighten the 4 bolts the pulley should straighten out. If not remove hose from circulating pump and move adjustment.
Finish up with adj. and w/p hoses and replace inlet hose on stern and your done. I had to do my starboard engine twice in one day last summer. and did it in under an hour each time
MY first attempt ever was similar to your way and I found trying to handle the pump and bracket combination rather awkward and slow.

every time I do this job, I want to sell the boat
and I overheated one engine firing up this spring and having the muffs fall off.
I should just replace the impellor to be sure, but dread the job.. I bought an extra impellor last time, so I got it in the tool box.

That's exactly why I like my 311 with Bravos, tons of space in front of the engines.
