Another Engine Hatch Problem
I took my boat over a friends house last weekend. When it was time to leave I opened the hatch about a foot like I always do to air it out before starting. Engines started but the hatch wouldn't go down. Wouldn't go further up (wasn't all the way up) wouldn't go back down - nothing.
I got it back to my marina and crawled inside. No loose wires, everything tight but the lift is dead. Is there a fuse somewhere?

Try using the blowers next time.....that's what they are for, and they actually pull any vapors out from the bottom where they accumulate.
I think the circuit breaker is under the rear seat?

I checked under the seat and none of them look like they "popped" so I figured that wasn't it. I'll take a closer look.

Re: Another Engine Hatch Problem
I've had similar problems--one was caused by corrosion in the connectors and the other casued by lousy crimp n connectors. Check them carefully--or better just replace and do it extremely carefully.
Just checked the factory wiring diagram and it looks like the hatch lifter switch is powered/wired directly from the 12V+ side of the fuse bus unde the dash--ie not breaker
Good luck.

I had the same chit happen on my 357, Try holding the toggle down and reaching behing the dash and wiggling the wires on the backside of the switch. They may appear to be fine and still have connection problems. If that doesn't work grab a test light and start checking for power.

At least it's completely dead and I should be able to find the problem sooner or later. The intermittent problems are the ones that make me crazy.

Turns out there is a breaker for the hatch under the dash but it wasn't popped. Checked all the connections; there is power going to the lift motor; looks like the lift itself is dead. Are these thing available anywhere???

Re: Another Engine Hatch Problem
Mine was made by Warner Electric -- www.warnernet.com
Also check http://www.apimarine.com/ they have a great hydraulic hatch lifter that I'm use to replace mine when I follow cuda's lead and rebuild sunpad.

www.eddiemarine.com,
www.cpperformance.com,
www.rexmar.com
to name a few that I have checked out for hatch actuators.
One of these sites explaines that slow actuators burn up due to low power. They offer a box to add in your wiring that will feed more power to the actuator which causes it to live longer and move faster.
