Not much adhesive on mine....I removed it by myself fairly easily. It was rattling so maybe they forgot the caulk/adhesive????
The end of the swim platform has a lip that holds the box up. pry it down below that and the rest should be easy.

Hey guys, I have some nice 4" salisbury flappers for the through hull fittings will keep water from backing up the tailpipes. I went to GGB mufflers and 4 1/2" flappers, so if anyone can use these ...

I put the same thing on the factory tips. Even though there is an internal flapper, I wanted the rubber ones like you have shown too.

Augie, I did the same on my 336, It's easier with two people, it's a pain in the a ss getting the back of the platform past the lip of the rubrail, but that's the way I did it, drop the back first and work the box from one end to the other. The second person helps with keeping the back of the silent thunder past the rub rail lip. The factory tips will be too short to clamp mufflers on, so you will need tips. Otherwise it will only be a matter of time before you get ticketed on Winnebago or Sturgeon Bay.

If you put tailpipes on all theway through the transom you will have to enlarge the holes to 4.5 inches, Factory holes are 4.125.

I also removed the silent thunder box on my 336. Make sure you tie a rope to the box and to the cleats on the boat. When the box lets go it is heavy and you don't want to crack it when it hits the ground. I installed HPI muffler tips that went in the existing 4" holes in the transom. I did need to drill for the thru-bolts as the stock tips were just screwed into the transom.

[QUOTE=augie58]i used a closet pole as a pry bar inserting it in the rectangular rear openings
You wont get much leverage that way. You're putting the bar inside the box. You need to go between the swim platform and the box itself. I took mine off my 312 and just added rubber flappers. 2 full seasons and no problems. Mine was fairly easy to remove because two of the 4 brackets holding it in place broke while under way. I had to get under the boat in rough water and tie it up with an anchor rope to get in to shore!

No problem, this board has helped me numerous times!!!....I would have posted pics of what was behind there if my boat wasn't at the shop. It's so much easier if you know what your working with.
