311 Versus 336 ?
Any opinon on the difference in my 1989 311 and a 1993 336 ? My 311 is 33'1" OL . I am thinking they would be very simular in layout and design ? The 336 has the built in platform and also a Sliding cabin door ... Any thoughts ?

I don't know a lot about the 311, but the swim platform as you point out is one difference. I have a 336, and LOVE it. We boat on LOTO, and it's the perfect size, IMO.
Also, go to the Formula website, and you can download almost every old catalog in .PDF; then you'll be able to see the differences. They may even have some hard copies of the 311 catalogs; they did for the 336 and sent them to me for free.

I still really like your 311. Can't beat the classic lines/graphics.
Biggest thing ... you know your boat. You would be starting all over again with the risk of engine problems, etc. My '89 311 was generally in better condition when I traded it than my '99 382, because I had it for over 10 years and had finally worked out all the problems and had it rigged and wrenched "my way". I knew every last nut, bolt, screw and wire in it. If it so much as farted, I knew where to look for the problem.
It will cost more to insure the 336. Then there is the sales tax loss to consider. I'm not sure you would be gaining all that much with a "lateral" move like this.

Powerguy, up in Vt. has a beautiful 336 fresh water,I believe he also knew the first owner. If any of this helps, yes it`s for sale.

Looking at the two pictures and really studying them, your 311 actually looks longer, more "snout".
I also happen to like the older classic lines and paint jobs of the older Formulas. Just my two cents.

Re: 311 Versus 336 ?
I don't know what the engine room is like in the 311, but there's plenty of room in the 336. The 336 would also give you electric bolsters and probably footrests, the ability to remove the silent thunder and still have a swim platform, the trunk in back for the transom shower and shore power cord storage/hookup, 95 and 96 adds a trim button in the throttle.
We moved up from a 272 to the 336 and never looked back - we really love the boat. I don't think that I would have made the move from a 311 though. Even now I wouldn't move up to a newer 353 because they're so much more and they don't "feel" any bigger to me.
