Clay, the original boat you ask about, does look very clean and seems well taken care of.
curious why there is closed cooling for a fresh water boat......... but you might need that anyway in Panama, Fla
there are 272's cheaper, but they will not be as clean.
my 272 gets attention , people know it is older, but gets a lot of looks, Formulas are timeless.
any clean formula in this era will be a wise purchase. they hold their value very well.
maybe you already know that about Formulas.....

Re: '89 272 SR1- What do you think?
Clay,
As mentioned above by Chuck (I think he was referring to me anyway), I lucked across a 91 292 w/502's, all original, down to the owners binders, snap in carpet, etc, not a tear in the upholstery at all, for $30K. There have been several other SR1's on the Chesapeake for sale in the last year or so. It is also a matter of being at the right place at the right time and being able to react quickly to an offering. Good Luck on your search. I'll keep an ear turned for anything coming up in the Bay, as the marina/boatel I'm at is a former Formula dealer.

Clay,
The 272 listed above for $24,999 looks like a pretty worthy candidate! Wantsa311 can even check it out. Pobably get it for $22k cash, that would be a great deal. IMO.
