Hi guys, as you know I rarely post on OSO but I like to read and learn what ever one is doing with there boats and where there boating. Right now I'am starting to redo my engine hatch on my1989 311. I would like to change it a bit to look more up to date like a 382. My question is how wide is the engine hatch on a newer 382. I'am looking at ordering the head rest and the foam underneath they call the foundation. My engine hatch measures about 71.5" Any help I would appreciate. Thanks Propwash.

Thanks Red Dog for replying. Last night I remove my engine hatch from my 311 and measured again, it looks closer to 71" now with a better look. Thats measuring the actual fiberglass frame on the inside that holds ever thing together. You probably don't know this Dog but I'am the guy from Mi. that wanted to buy your 311. Have your heard anything about your old boat? I have never seen another one painted like that one, NICE. A few mouths later after talking to you about your boat I decided to pursue a similar 311 from IW. I have now owned it two years and it's been a great boat that is also very very clean. But like any boat that is now 17 years old it needs some of the upholstery redone. Talk to you again, your 382 is also one of my favorite paint jobs very nice. I like red and white boats. Todd.

Fiberglass is 72" inside to inside. The hatch padding and material is 71" wide.
I do remember you now. Wish we could have worked something out then. 311 went to trade out in California, then purchased without motors for only $15,000 with nice Eagle trailer. It was a STEAL at that price, even if he had to go out to CA to get it. It is now in New York on Lake Ontario and he is delighted with it. Sure do miss my old girl sometimes.
Thanks for the compliments. I have been very fortunate to have owned two nice boats. Glad you finally found something.

Todd,
Did you call McLeod directly? They are pretty reasonable on price. My friend with a '98 382 and I are ordering skins for the back seats and we got a discount on purchase of two.
Website is McLeod Design, Taylor MI.

Hey Kris thanks for getting back with me so quick. It sounds as if the width is the same between the two boats. Maybe my Idea will work after all.Now it's time for me to get busy with my project.Hey Kris I just want thank you for all the time you spend helping so many people on this Formula board.Your a good friend to all the boaters on OSO and it does get noticed even from people like me that don't post much at all. Thanks Todd. P.S . You ought to bring that 382 to SOTW some year, maybe I'll run into you some time. I'am usually just a spectator or little dog among the big ones.

Thanks for the kind words.
Although I didn't make it up until early evening on Saturday, I was at SOTW last year. I had worked an event at Michigan Speedway that day and arrived at Grand Haven in my RV later. Heard news of the trajedy the first minute I set foot onto the pier.
SOTW can be a very expensive weekend and unfortunately limits my participation. By the time I take a weekend off, fuel for tow up and back, fuel for the boat, entry fee, charity donations, hotel expense, food and bar bill easily turns into a $3000-$4000 weekend.
If I can get up there this summer, maybe we can throw down a couple cold ones!
