Default Fastech / SC5000 / Depth finder transducer

Is anyone out there running the SmartCraft SC5000 in a Fastech and using the depth finder option? Formula does not install the transducer to be used with the SC5000. I got the Mercury part number for the correct transducer (888828-1). I believe it will plug in the harness at the engines since there is a plug labeled "depth finder" back there, but was wondering the best place to mount the transducer. Not sure if the if structural grid liner in the Fastech hulls would allow a clear signal for a thru-hull type depth finder. Thanks for any help.

It should be right in front of the 1st step, however, under high speeds in may not work well due to the stepped hull.

Ted.

Thanks tc4542. I don't have any information other than the part number for the SC5000 transducer, but I assumed it is the type you epoxy to the inside of the hull and the signal travels through the hull. The type in your picture looks like it actually requires a hole through the hull. Is this for the SC5000? Do they offer the other type?

I'll tell you, I am really having a hard time finding good literature or anyone who really knows the SC5000. The manual I got from Formula (MerCruiser's) really just cover the basics. MerCruiser really needs to spend some time educating their dealers and technicians on this stuff...
