Default question for 311 owners ....

same question is in the progect thread but just incase someone misses it ..... replacing the stringers in my 311 and need to know if on the outside stringers .. there is a notch about 24" from the front bulkhead in the stringer. I am thinking it is where ther battery cables dropped down under the motors. can somebody look and see if I need to go back with them ? If it is for the cable we might just punch a hole thru the stringer ... Just need to make sure its not there for clearance for the motors... thanks m

Sorry I didn't see this before, I was down Sunday. If you don't get a response I will be back down to the boat by the weekend and I'll look for you. But looking at it, it might be where the fuel pump/water separator is located and they had to notch it for that.

you may be right ... I was thinking it was where the grd cable fed to the block but it makes more sense for the fuel pump .......m

one thing though is fuel pump/filter on port motor is on Starboard side of motor ....

Sorry, Mike - I'm tucked away until April 15th. Hopefully you'll be back together by then.

Okay, got it for you today. On mine the alternator bracket on the port motor reaches into the notch. They ran the negative cable through the notch on the starboard side-probably just cause it's there. The fuel pump/water pump assembly on the starboard motor doesn't come anywhere near the notch. So you can get away without it on the starboard side but not on the port.
