Default Looking at 1988 272 SR1, Immaculate, have some questions

I posted earlier about a 1988 24LS, everyone was a big help with my questions. I decided that maybe twins are the way to go. So I spotted a beautiful 1988 272 SR1 twin 454's for sale. Couple questions, I got the NADA used boat value on it and it was for $18k, the asking price for the boat is $30k, can the boat have that much value in her? I know it's immaculate and all. Just want your feedback. Second, what type of fuel consumption can I expect, not looking to beat on her, just cruising, sometimes wot, the owner tells me he puts $75.00 in for the weekend cruising with the family, does this sound accurate? Please add any thoughts you have about this particular hull, I searching for information. Thanks for your help, RJ

Probably 454/330's. $75 would last less than an hour of running time. If your hanging out at the local beach then it could be a full day on the water. I'm willing to bet he said 75 gallons. A BBC will burn about 15 gallons per hour cruising, 2 of them makes it about 30.
Great boat, very popular and worth more than 18K if it's in the condition you say. $30K......might be a little strong, with a trailer I would think mid-upper 20's tops. Get us some pics!

In my opinion, a 88' to 90' 272SR-1 ranges anywhere from 25,000 to 49,900. It depends on how many hours are on the hull; what power it has; have the motors been reworked;fresh water/salt water; trailer, etc. One thing is for sure. the new Formula are pricey!
A rig is worth what someone is willing to pay for it !

Thanks for the info. I'll work on the pics. I thought he meant 75 gals. also, I asked again, tells me 75 bucks a little more if we are going to cruise. The boat can be viewed at this link:

Thanks, RJ

I have an 89 272 that once had 454/330s. 25" Mirage props got me 42 mph at 3000 rpm cruise and 1.5 mpg. Could probably do better with 24 Bravos.

I agree with Russ ...75 Gallons would get you an afternoon run .... I will add though I kept close track of consumption on my 311 ....454 mags ... and I would log a low of 11 to 16 high Gallons per total run time ....thats ..idle ..cruise... and some WOT runs but those were limited and short ....
The 272 is alot more boat than the 24LS ....

email me the pics and I can post em .....m

offthefront, 11 to 16 gals? How long could you run on 16 gal? On my 292 w/454mags, I figure I burn about 20-25 gals an hour, idle, cruise and a little more here and there. My father has kept meticulous logs in his 34' Sea Ray with 454/340's and he says he gets an average of 22 gals per hour. I know they are different boats but it seems that the motors would work alot less pushing my 292 at cruise than his big ol' boat!
