Water in the bilge, where do I look for leaks?

Oh sure, take the easy way out!
Looks like it's either 16 or 23 depending on the year. Gotta re-read some old threads and see when they went to different setups.

I have 16 since I have 96 engines with VST. If you go newer then 23 is the one. Not cheap, but the detail in these manuals is great. It even tells you which pin is for which input on the ECU. I could probably set a hacker loose and get a reprogram program made up

96 is the switch year from VST to Cool Fuel-either one is available that year.

I also had a leak in the bilge turned out to be a trim tab. Had a mechanic fix it. He had a real small 105lbs kid get it there to hold the bolts so he could remove the tab and fix it. Other wise would of had to pull motor. Leak was real noticeable as well. Bilge was turning on every 10 minutes.

Not good guys. Water is a fast trickle in both transom assemblies, somewhere under the driveshaft I think. I'm not that familiar with how things are arranged, but it was near a couple of external-Torx bolts.
And if that wasn't enough, the compartment at the forward part of the lounge area was full of stale water, same as under the step. I have NO IDEA how water got in there since there's no drain and everything else seemed dry around the top of the compartment. Is it possible that if the bilge got full enough, and the plug under the step is left open, that water could flow forward and seep up into that compartment? Not likely since the water was definitely stale.
I'm afraid I'm gonna have to tear up carpeted areas to figure out if there's a leak. Guess I should try and dry it all up first and see what happens.
This sucks. My detail guy did a real good job on the hull/running surface/outside. But if he left my interior like this I'm gonna kick his @ss.

Don't you have a second bilge pump under your step ? I do in my 35-7, but often have water there too, but not enough to really take care of it...
