Default Boat Insurance coverage for Bahamas

(I postd this in the Insurance and Finance Forum as well.)

Hey,

I've got coverage on my Formula 382 through progressive. I'm going to the Bahamas for a few weeks and went to bump up my coverage to 125 Miles offshore which also said includes the Bahamas. The fine print though says it includes the Bahamas, but only within 125 miles of the coast of the continental US. Which basically is worthless.

I'm only going to be in the Bahamas for 3 weeks, but need insurance while I'm there. Anyone have any recommendations for companies that can insure me?

My agent seems to be taking a while to get back to me that got my insurance w/ Progressive. I'm starting to get nervous as I'm due to leave the Florida coast in about 3 weeks.

Thanks,
Garrett

Not sure about Progressive, but State Farm just adds a rider to my policy and bills me for the amount of time I'll be gone, I think the las trip to the Bahamas cost me about 125.00 for a 10 day stretch.

Thanks.

I have all my vehicles and homeowners insurance w/ State Farm. I didn't even ask them to quote my 382 when I bought it because they were so freakin' high when they quoted my Ski Nautique back in the late 90's. They wanted $850 a year for a boat that would only go 41mph. My agent told me, 340HP in a 19' foot, boat? That thing will do 75 mph. Clearly not an expert on tournament ski boats.

Maybe I'll give them a call and see.

Curious about State Farm. They refused to quote my 382. I have 8 policys with them. No accidents no tickets. After Katrina no way with speed and HP

State Farm insured my 99 P/Q 34ft Vyper with 500hp motors and they were pretty cool about riders for the Bahamas. My agent came by the house and took pictures for their file and that was pretty much that(Of course I did put up all of the camper canvas so it looked more like a cruiser before he came over) snicker, snicker.
