Default 292 Insurance: What do you pay?

I know this has been asked plenty of times before but I'm looking at possibly getting an 06 leftover 292. I'm trying to get a feel for how much insurance is going to run me. It's my first boat, and I'm only 23 years old. Probably going to have a 6 or 7 month lay up time. I would like to hear what other 292 owners are paying to get a feel of what to expect.

About $900 /year for my 2003 292, 6.2's. I do have 2 tickets on my driving record right now so it should drop next year when those fall off my record.

Depends on where you're located. I was getting quotes from Progressive around $1500/year in south Louisiana

I'm in PA but I boat in NJ. I got a quote from progessive at 1500/year, seems a little high being that I put lay up time from October to May. But then again it is my first boat and I'm only 23 but I'v been driving boats for 15+ years, just not my own. I've got a clean record as well.

btw, when my regular agent got a quote from Progressive it was much higher than the same policy from Progressive quoted through a marine insurance specialist.

I tried to give the business to my regular agent, but the difference was almost 50% for the same policy.

I've gotten 3 different quotes from Progressive on the same boat checking through different agents and through Progressive direct. Direct was the most expensive.

1500 sounds about right. Three years ago I was 23 and had a 1991 formula 311 and I was paying around 1400 a year with a 6 month lay-up in Minnesota.
