1987 242 SR1 542hrs good price?
I am looking at 1987 242 SR1 with twin mercs in it. has 542 hours on the boat, redo of the motors at about 400 hours. thing looks is very nice shape, scuff marks here and there, but interior looks very nice for original.
Wondering if $18,000 is a good price with triple axle trailer. It does not look like a 20 year old boat, I would put wear and tear on the thing in the 5 to 10 year range at most from a looks dept.
Any thoughts? Anything to look for in these boats that may be a deal breaker/maker?
I am doing searches now, so might come up with more, so apologize in advance if this is covered some place already.
Thanks in advance for the help.

twin 350s, with alpha drives. Boat was painted a couple years ago, but they left the bottom alone.
some cracking of the dash from sitting in the sun, and small things like that, but overall the boat looks nice.
I am trying to find a surveyor right now to have it looked over. Think I found someone, just waiting a call back.

Sounds like the one on Lake Winni that was for sale for ever. i thought i read that it was sold this year.
In my opinion, that's a lot for a 242, regardless of the rareity of the twins. But this is also my first summer watching these things come up for sale. You folks up north snap 'em up like they're going out of style I've been watching the market on Donzi Classics and Minx'. 6 months ago they couldn't be given away; now people are asking/offering stupid money IMHO.
There's also no reason for a triple axle to be under a 242.

understood on the trailer. Certainly overkill, but needs to be accounted for in the price I guess.
The boats are certainly less common up here in the North, seems that is why they go for more up here from what I have been seeing.

Any things that are common issues on this boat that you are aware of? All the reading I have done in the last week leads me to believe that the formula is a good boat, just issues with the alpha drives and motors from time to time if they are not properly maintained.
