St. Louis riverfront run
Tried something new over the weekend and thought I'd share some pics. Decided to lock through down to the St. Louis riverfront. I always wanted to get a pic of the 292 under the arch. Hard to believe all that industry is only 45 miles south from our normal boating area. Quite an experience and had no problems. My brother anchored his 24' Monterey right infront of the arch and we rafted off and ate lunch. Good times!

Thanks. We live in Washington but boat in the Alton pool. I'm a bit nervous running the MO River in the Fastech. The wife and I have talked about getting a little runabout to run from Washington up to the Alton pool.

I am pretty sure I know the boat! We were anchored off the top of Island 521 and he idled by to say hello. St. Genevieve would be a good trip. Next I think we will head up north of Clarksville and maybe stay at Two Rivers marina.

Lake Center Marina. Been there two years now and really like it. Here's a pic of my brothers Monterey coming out that morning.

Thanks! I recommend making the trip, just plan on going with at least one other boat in case you have problems. We were mostly concerned with locking trough, but it really was no big deal. The lockmaster at lock 26 monitors channel 14 and lock 27 (Chain of Rocks) monitors channel 12. You just give them a call and they will get you right on through.
Lock 27 is HUGE. 1200 ft (jeez, that's almost a 1/4 mile!) by 110 ft. Below is a pic. We shared the lock with a small barge and a tug.
