My new to me 88 272
Finally done boat searching.. I managed to come up with a 1988 272 that is very clean..... I havent got a chance to run her yet, I've only backed her down the ramp to fire up both motors and run em for a while to check things over.... Should be getting to play this weekend!!!
Does anyone know what I should xpect, RPM's/MPH with the set up I've got... 350mags/alpha turning 23p mirage +.....

All stock? probably gonna be dissapointed, probably somewhere around 58 to 62. I loved those boats, my first Formula was an 88 272 with the Palm Beach colors with 330's and Bravos,,,,the boat would run 63mph, collapsed one of the risers back at the exhaust hose and thought the port motor was going south, so I loaded my fat azz up and went down to Dollar Marine in Lauderdale and bought a set of takeout 420's from a Mirage he had, used Bassett headers(at the time it was the only headers I could find that would fit due to tight center clearances) and the boat would run a tick over 70 mph,,,,I loved that boat and wish I had it back today. Didn't mean to wander off the subject but by todays standards that is one big heavy 27 footer for small blocks.

... Or grab some LT1's and cam them. I'm pushing out more hp than a 454 and weigh a lot less with SBC's. Joker - warm those 350's up with some cams and quality headers / carbs. I'm running a hair over 70.

Thanks!! I actually just got off the phone with a engine guy I know talkin about some upgrades... cam, headers and carb for sure... heck as heavy as it is I'd be happy with 58-62 with stock 350mags....
I have a spare Quicksilver 23p would you guys recommend me picking up another Quicksilver and throwing those on instead of the Mirage +'s

Run it with the Mirage +'s and see what she does. I'm curious. I'd say mid-50s will be my guess.
Aftermarket exhaust first, then go nuts and throw vortec heads and appropriate cam/intake/carb at 'em. THEN, figure out how to get the shorty Alpha SS lower units. 70+ at that point.
Oh yeah, beautiful red 272...welcome!
