What years did Formula make the 311SR and what model replaced it?

What power did they have, drives and speed.

I would like to move up from my 21' F3-LS.

I think and this is a big guess that the 311 replaced more of less the 302. This happend late 80's. Sorry but that is all the info I have. I can tell you that the 302 and the 311 are both great boats. The 302 being slightly larger in the hull as the swim platform is not included. Other then that they are about the same. Windshield and such are very different.

Off the top of my head, the 311 and 272 SR-1 models came around in mid-model year 1986. The 311 did replace the 302. The replacement for the 311 was the 336 (added length designation due to integrated swim platform) in, oh, 1992 or 1993?

So, does that mean the 312 replaced the ????? since the 311 replaced the 302, & the 336 replaced the 311, where did the 312 come from? the 292??? This gets really confusing! Maybe the factory has a "chronology". Hey Boilerdaddy !! Howabowdit???

The 311 is 31' without the swimplatform. I know they came with 330's and 365's with Bravos. All of the ones I've seen with 420's all had TRS. I have a one with 330's and bravos and it runs 62-64 depending on load and props. I would like to sell it if anyone is interested. It is in great shape and has alot of upgrades. I'll take a stab at this, based on used boat searches. I expect the 303 replaced the 292 back in 1992(?). The 312 was probably the a middle ground replacement for the 303 and 336 when they went to the stepped fastech hull. They also came out with the 353 to put between the 312 and 382. Date ranges are approximate...

1986-1992: 272, 292, 311, 357
1992-1996(or97): 271, 303, 336, 419
1997-??: 271, 312, 353, 382(1995), 419

Yeah, I would say that the 312 is a 292 replacement, or a rough equivalent. What you're going to find is that in this range, you want a boat people can jump to every three feet or so. The 292 was a nice boat with a good ride, but it was a two-foot "tweener," with the 272 on one side and the 311 on the other. 272, you did a good job of picking up the "families."

in my recollection, the 311 was powerboat of the year in 88. "known for their perfect balance" They are holding their value very well , and a good condition used formula like the 311 is a good investment. (i.e. minimal depreciation) . I bought a 272 3 yrs ago in mint for 38K with new manning trailer. the "mint" 311's were getting in the low 50k's at the time. if i look now. the prices are holding pretty well. My friend Scott bought his 311 4 yrs ago for 52k, sold it two years later for 55k

much better than a new $180k boat that you sell 3 yrs later for $149k !!!.

I love the 272 and hope to get a 311 in a few years. don't have the $$$$ to risk for new.

Also the 311's are a timeless design, (with the exception of the new steps everywhere now..) they don't look old if in good condition. and we ALL keep our Formula's in good condition......

Love my 89 311 also. Paid $35K for it in June 2000. Just a little dull in the gel-coat and graphics department. Nothing a good buffer couldn't take care of. Everything else was immaculate. No doubt, I could get mid $40s for it now. Great rough water boat that still runs mid 60s with minimal power. I just can't stand that "bolt-on" silent thunder swim platform. Makes it look like an afterthought. Other than that, I wouldn't trade it for the world. Would like to upgrade the power, though. The little lady really hates to hear me talk about that! Maybe I'll just continue looking for a 382 with 500 hps. I don't think she'll go for that either.

P.S. Hey Mark, looking at dash upgrade for 2003 so I may be in touch. Not until next Fall, though!

What kind of speeds do you get on 311 with 365 Mags ? 500 ? Ive narrowed it down b-tween 31 Bullet @ Formula 311,303 Maybe find a steal on 312 ?
