Default Shower Assembly

Does anyone have a shower assembly hooked up in the bathroom for a quick shower. I saw a 382 for sale that had a hot water heater in it. I don't want to go that far, but would like to pipe in a freshwater hand held shower in the head so one could shower after a day on the water if overnighting is considered.

I think I would use it if I wanted to spend the night on the boat. How hard would it be to pipe it into the same supply as the sink?

Or should I just strip down and shower off of the swim platform with the transom shower?

The wife will not overnight on the boat without a shower, and I am sure she will not be the one showering on the swim platform!

No showers I guess. How do the overnighters freshen up?

We overnight often and I feel I must have a shower after hanging out on the boat with sunscreen on all day. Since I like a fairly cool shower anyway, I wait until near dark then stand on the platform in my bathing suit. Soap and shampoo up (even reaching down INSIDE my suit to get everything clean). Feels much better and we've stayed out as long as 5 nights before.

I've done the same thing but only 3 nights. Waves lapping up against the boat and gently rocking you to sleep. Love it! Jump in the lake lather up then head to Tan tar a for breakfast buffet.(Then use there toilet)

I'm good with a transom shower, but I also have a water heater. The Admiral is not interested in showering outdoors, even with a suit on, though, so we make regular marina stops on long trips.

I suppose that it would be possible to install a hand shower in the head, but I would bear in mind:
  1. Getting a water hose over to the starboard side could be tricky. (It might be best to start with a tee from the outlet of the pump inder the vee berth and work your way back under the settee, as is done on the port side.)
  2. I'm not sure that the inboard wall of the head is water-resistant material. It may just be laminate over composite board.
  3. You'll have to create some sort of drip rail/seal around the door, or you'll wind up with very wet carpet in the cabin.
  4. In my 382, the inboard wall is sealed to the floor of the head only with a bead of silicone. That might not be enough to keep the water from seeping out where you don't want it.
  5. I'm not sure of the capacity of the sump pump that handles the head floor drain, but it should be fine. It's a bilge pump, and the water supply pump doesn't flow all that much. You'll probably want a screen on the floor drain to intercept any hair.

I'd call Formula and speak with the TAG group to see if anyone else has done it, and if I've forgotten anything that you need to watch out for.

Sounds like an interesting project, though. None of these potential problema re insurmountable. You'll just have to decide how much you want The Admiral to be onboard with you. Domestic tranquility is hard to put a price on....
