Default Poker Run 2002 in A-Bay?

Anybody going to Alexandria Bay for the Poker Run? The dates are June 21st and 22nd. I know Toolman was planning on it, but haven't heard from him since he lost his steering? Anybody else? I have a slip in A-Bay and wouldn't mind showing anybody who comes up a few watering holes!!

Dave,

Sorry but we can't make it that weekend after all. We have a prior commitment we can't get out of. Would like to get up there sometime this summer. Do you know when the pirates weekend is?

How's the new boat? Ours is great now that we got the steering fixed. Keep in touch.

Toolman,
Boat is running fine. Great ride, must be the weight. Running Mirage Plus 25's and getting around 72.4mph on GPS almost empty! Not too bad. Only running about 4800 rpms though. Might go for the lab to get that extra 200-300 rpms. Have had some steering problems as well. The helm seems to loosen up after a few days of running and there is some slop in the cable. Talked to the marina and they are going to replace whatever is worn. They replaced the steering connector which goes from the cable to the power steering unit and that helped a bit. What was wrong with yours?

Too bad you can't make it up for the run. I got asked to ride with a dock mate in his 39' Velocity race boat! Kevlar hull and around 1800hp!!! 100+ MPH. Might just have to take him up on it! Hope all is well. Dave

Dave,

Our steering problem started out as the coupler in the tilt column. When they ordered the new part, it didn't fit because Morse had been bought out by Teleflex. They said I had no choice but to replace the entire helm assembly and cable. $700 later(ouch!) I'm back in the water again.

The boat runs great, but I haven't tried for top end yet. I did see 65 MPH on GPS at 4500 rpm's. (5 people on board with 3/4 tank of fuel.) Should see 70-73 I hope!

That ride on the Velocity sounds like a blast! I'd go for it if I were you!

We'll be watching the NYC poker run this sat. on our Formula from somewhere around the Tappen Zee bridge. Are you coming down?
